New riders are welcome to join one preseason or early season practice to decide if the team is right for you. The earlier, the better, as skills are taught in progression throughout the season.
Cost to Join
There are two fees required to participate:
1. Georgia Cycling Association fee of $205, which covers insurance and other league expenses.
2. Sope Creek team fees of $175, which covers the cost to operate the team. All team members will receive a jersey and team t-shirt.
* Athletes choosing to participate in races can do so at additional cost. Details can be found on Georgia Cycling’s race series page.
Please do not let the cost be a barrier to you joining. Scholarships and other help may be available for families needing financial assistance.
Last day to register is August 23rd.

Coaches
Important Note: In order to participate in any rides or practices with our team, you must be a registered and licensed coach.
Coaching is a fantastic way to enjoy the outdoors, stay fit, help the team, and be part of youth development. Becoming a coach is easier than you might think. Our team provides the training necessary for you to learn and teach mountain biking skills (Mountain Bike Coaching 101). The league requires additional safety training, which can typically be completed online. Please view the coaching requirements page for details.

Required Equipment
Bike
If you are unsure if your mountain bike is fit for the trail, bring it. We’ll look it over to make sure it’s safe and capable.
If you don’t have a bike, let us know. We have several bikes for you to try to determine if you like the sport.
If the cost of a bike is a barrier to joining the team, talk to us. Both our team and the Georgia Cycling league have loaner bikes available for students who want to participate but need a little help.
If you’re shopping for a bike, talk to us first. We can offer guidance and let you know about significant discounts available for registered riders.
